Riccardo's Biography

Riccardo Wolfgang Gay Luger was born in Como, Italy, in 1976 and moved to Caracas at age of 5. He went to school in Venezuela and USA, then he first studied business in Venezuela, but was very interested in magazines and the editorial world, so he went to London to learn about it in London School of Journalism, then becoming Editor of a Magazine called Gerencia in his University of Venezuela with 20 years old.

He pursued his interest in the Editorial world as he became the Marketing Manager of Expansión Newspaper in Spain, Madrid. after working in corporations, marketing and business oriented places. Riccardo decided that he preferred to read magazines than to make them in corporations, so started LUGERMEDIA, a brand that started as an advertising agency, photography agency and some other areas, then became the concept he created: VISUAL SATISFACTION AGENCY, that evolved to Visual Intelligence. Also founder of Lugermad Photography and Picante Fashion Photography

His camera is a device he always carries with him since 2001 to work in the agency and to travel. Started to do professional photography, self-taught, during the advertising agency years for clients, discovering even a greater passion for photography taking him to study a one year school of photography in EFTI, Spain.

Now he does photographic projects and exhibits his work using his second name Wolfgang as artistic name, Riccardo Wolfgang. Also he does special commissions and works as commercial photographer too. He sees, explores and takes pictures of the main topics of his photographic vision, including street photography: Serendipity, Structures, DJs, Passages that have been exhibited in London and Milan.

He has done portraits of many contemporary artists, thinkers and entrepreneurs like Nancy Spielberg, Mikhail Friedman, Bernard Henry-Levy, Franklin Evans, Rosita Missoni, Gabrielle Di Matteo, Igor Eskinja, Luca Pozzi, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, Giovanni Rizzoli, Abdelkader Benchamma, Radhika Khimji, Gianni Pettena and many curatos, gallerist, characters in the art world.

Award winner of the British National Photography Award -Second Round- and The Wedisson Award.

Riccardo lets curators or individuals construct exhibitions with images of different series showing the influence of the selection of works and themes (sometimes even to create a new theme). it brings up questions in the field of relevance and flexibility of the artist, art world and curatorial work.

WORKS

DJs Series

The party is an ancestral ritual, done by almost all civilizations, where people behave differently. DJ´S are the contemporary Shaman´s or group Gurus that change peoples state of mind.

Passages

The action or process of moving through or past somewhere on the way from one place to another.

This photographic series by London-based photographer Riccardo Wolfgang is an analogy of the passages that shape our lives.

The artist successfully captured this concept by creating aesthetically attractive images with a profound meaning.
